WE SAIL AGAINST ENGLAND
1940, Struck Silver Commemorative Medal, 36mm., Rim-stamp, BAYER.HAUPTMÜNZAMT.SILBER 900f
Obverse: Using the theme of a famous battle song "We sail against England'" (Denn wir fahren gegen Engelland). Goetz shows the assault by ship and planes.
Reverse: With the collapse of France it seemed impossible that England' left alone without allies on the Continent could long resist the then superior Germans. Hitler expected to force the English to surrender by bombing their cities. Otherwise he would invade the isle and conquer it like France. This medal conveys this German feeling.
