BOMBS ON EMPEROR'S CATHEDRAL IN AACHEN
1943, Cast Bronze Commemorative Medallion, 100.0mm.
Obverse: This cathedral was built by Charlemagne. Rebuilt in the 10th century, it contains Charlemagne's tomb.
Reverse: Death, with an American Flad attached to his scythe, straddles a Christmas tree preparing to drop a bomb with the "Nazi name", swastika, on it. Bombers fly in formation in the right field. 23, December, 1943
Many other splendid buildings including his palace were devastated during World War IL The cathedral however, escaped major damage as did the Cathedral in Cologne.
